The Tab and pdf files are my own work. Some are copies of handwritten notes that I collected and compiled over the years, and others are transcribed from tutorials posted by talented online teachers.

My Tabs are put together and formatted in Notepad, transformed to MS Word, and converted to PDF format for download.

Most Songs include an Audio file for reference purposes. The Audio files are gathered from my personal music library OR extracted from websites offering free guitar lessons. Lyrics and Chords:

D E G A7
It is the evening of the day
D E G A7
I sit and watch the children play
G A
Smiling faces I can see
D Bm
But not for me
G ' A7 '
I sit and watch as tears go by

My riches can't buy everything
I want to hear the children sing
All I hear is the sound of rain
falling on the ground
I sit and watch as tears go by

It is the evening of the day
I sit and watch the children play
Doing things I used to do
They think are new
I sit and watch as tears go by

Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm,
hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm,
hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm

As Tears Go By (Fingerstyle) - lonelypicker
"As Tears Go By" is a song written by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Rolling Stones' manager Andrew Loog Oldham. Marianne Faithfull recorded and released it as a single in the United Kingdom in 1964. Her song peaked at number nine on both the UK and Irish singles charts. Later, the Rolling Stones recorded their own version, which was included on the American album December's Children (And Everybody's). London Records released it as a single, which reached number six in the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Goin' 'round and 'round

Angel from Montgomery - John Prine
John Prine wrote "Angel from Montgomery" after a friend suggested writing "another song about old people", referring to Prine's song "Hello In There". Although Prine had "said everything I wanted to [about seniors] in 'Hello In There'" he was intrigued by the idea of "a song about a middle-aged woman who feels older than she is...[Eventually] he had this really vivid picture of this woman standing over the dishwater with soap in her hands....She wanted to get out of her house and her marriage and everything. She just wanted an angel to come to take her away from all this".

American Woman - The Guess Who
American Woman is a song by Canadian rock band The Guess Who, first released in January 1970 on the album of the same name and later in March as a single, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has been covered by many rock artists, including, Lenny Kravitz and Krokus.

The song's origins took the form of a live jam at a curling rink concert in Waterloo, Ontario. The group was rushing into the second set and began improvising a rhythm to liven up the crowd. Burton Cummings, the lead singer, began improvising lyrics to fit the music. They liked what they had played and noticed a kid with a cassette recorder making a bootleg copy and asked him for the tape. The subsequent studio recording features the original almost completely unchanged; only a few lines were added.

Amen (Fingerstyle) - Helmut Bickel
"Amen" is a traditional gospel song that was popularized by The Impressions with their 1964 version. It was recorded earlier, in June 1948, and released in January 1949 by the Wings Over Jordan Choir.

The song was arranged by Jester Hairston, for the Sidney Poitier film Lilies of the Field (1963), which popularized the song. Curtis Mayfield said "I'd gone to see 'Lilies of the Field,' and the song in it, 'Amen,' was very inspiring for me as was the movie . . . Of course, I'd decided to do a version of it. We put it together in the studio starting off with a musical 'swing low sweet chariot', and then we fell into that particular song with somewhat of a marching rhythm." The song was the first Impressions' hit that Mayfield did not write. Mayfield inserted the title of the song "Keep on Pushing", which was recorded by the Impressions, in-between the lyrics of the song.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch like me.
   D D G D
I once was lost, but now I'm found,
    D A7 D D
Was blind, but now I see.

Twas grace that thought my heart to fear,
And grace my fear relieved.
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believed.

Chorus

When we've been here ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when did when we first begun.

Chorus

Amazing Grace (Fingerstyle) - Unknown
Amazing Grace is a Christian hymn with lyrics written by the English poet and clergyman John Newton (1725–1807), published in 1779. With a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of the sins people commit and that the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God, "Amazing Grace" is one of the most recognizable songs in the English-speaking world.

Against the Wind - Bob Seger

Against the Wind - Bob Seger (4/4)
Intro: G (4 bars)

Verse 1:
-------

G '
It seems like yesterday,
Bm '
But it was long ago.
C G
Jenny was lovely; she was the queen of my nights,
D C
There in the darkness with the radio, playing low.
         G '
And the secrets that we shared,
Bm '
The mountains that we moved
C G
Caught like wildfire out of control,
               C D
Till there was nothing left to burn and nothing
        D
left to prove.

Pre-Chorus:
----------

       [Em D] G
And I remember what she said to me,
       [Em C] G
How she swore that it never would end.
  [Em D] C
I remember how she held me, oh so tight.
C D
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.

Chorus:
------

G Bm C G
Against the wind, we were running against the wind.
       [C Bm ][Am C ]
We were young and strong, we were running against the
G ' ' '
wind.

Verse 2:
-------

G '
And the years rolled slowly past.
Bm '
And I found myself alone.
C G
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends,
D C
I found myself further and further from my home.
         G '
And I guess I lost my way.
Bm '
There were oh, so many roads.
C G
I was living to run, and running to live,
               C D
Never worrying about paying, or even how
         D
much I owed.

Pre-Chorus:
----------

       [Em D] G
Runnin' 8 miles a minute for months at a time,
       [Em C] G
breaking all of the rules that would bend.
  [Em D] C
I begin to find myself just searching,
C D
Searching for shelter again and again.

Chorus:
------

G Bm C G
Against the wind, we were running against the wind.
       [C Bm ][Am C ]
We were young and strong, we were running against the
G ' ' '
wind.

And she stirs the tea with councilors

And she passes looks as well as

and he likes his fags the best
Cos he's better than the rest

And he hope to grab his father's loot
when Pater passes on

And he plays the stocks
and shares and he goes to a regatta
He adores the girl next door
cos he's dying to get at her
But his mother knows the best

He followed a light and came down to a shed
Where a mother and child were lying there on a bed
A bright light of silver shone round his head
And he had a face of an angel
And they were afraid

Verse 3:

I come from a planet a long way from here
And I bring a message for mankind to hear"
Suddenly, the sweetest music
Filled the air And it went

And just before dawn, at the paling of the sky
The stranger returned and said, "Now I must fly
When two thousand years of your time has gone by
This song will begin once again

La-la-la-la la-la-la (oh-oh-oh-oh)
La-la-la-la, la-la-la la-la-la
Peace and goodwill to all men
And love for the child

Verse/Outro:
-----------

Oh, the whole world is waiting
Waiting to hear the song again
There are thousands standing on the edge of the world
And a star is moving somewhere
The time is nearly here
This song will begin once again
To a baby's cry

A Spaceman Came Travelling (Fingerstyle) - Chris de Burgh
A Spaceman Came Travelling is a song by Chris de Burgh released on the album Spanish Train and Other Stories in 1975. It became a popular Christmas song in the UK, and has been released numerous times as a single, first in 1976, then 1981, 1984 and 1986. The re-release in 1976 reached #1 in Ireland, its reissue making #15 in that country in 1986.

De Burgh, who had just signed his first recording contract with A&M Records, was broke and "staying at a friend's flat" when he read Chariots of the Gods? by Erich von Däniken. The book made him think "what if the star of Bethlehem was a space craft and what if there is a benevolent being or entity in the universe keeping an eye on the world and our foolish things that we do to each other?" A fan of Irish poet William Butler Yeats, whose work "The Second Coming" avers that every 2,000 years or so there would be a major cataclysmic event happening, de Burgh saw the birth of Christ as "such an event and then 2,000 years later there would be a similar" one.

a hundred miles, a hundred miles,
        G ' C
you can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles

Chorus:
------

          C Am
Lord, I'm one, Lord, I'm two,
          Dm F
Lord, I'm three, Lord, I'm four,
          G ' C
Lord, I'm five hundred miles a way from home

Not a shirt on my back,
not a penny to my name.
Lord, I can't go back home this-a way

This-a way, this-a way,
this-a way, this-a way,
Lord, I can't go back home this-a way

If you miss the train I'm on,
you will know that I am gone,
you can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles

A hundred miles, a hundred miles,
a hundred miles, a hundred miles,
you can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles

You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles

500 Miles Away from Home (Fingerstyle) - Helmut Bickel
"500 Miles" (also known as "500 Miles Away from Home" or "Railroaders' Lament") is a song made popular in the United States and Europe during the 1960s folk revival. The simple repetitive lyrics offer a lament by a traveler who is far from home, out of money and too ashamed to return.

The song is generally credited as being written by Hedy West, and a 1961 copyright is held by Atzal Music, Inc. "500 Miles" is West's "most anthologized song".
