In Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA.

Okie From Muskogee - Merle Haggard
Okie from Muskogee is an American country music song performed by its co-writer, Merle Haggard. Released in September 1969, the song became one of the most famous of his career

Haggard told "The Boot" that he wrote the song after he became disheartened watching Vietnam War protests and incorporated that emotion and viewpoint into song. Haggard says, "When I was in prison, I knew what it was like to have freedom taken away. Freedom is everything. During Vietnam, there were all kinds of protests. Here were these [servicemen] going over there and dying for a cause — we don't even know what it was really all about. And here are these young kids, that were free, bitching about it. There's something wrong with that and with [disparaging] those poor guys." He states that he wrote the song to support the troops.

Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams
Summer of 69 is a song recorded by Canadian recording artist Bryan Adams, from his fourth studio album, Reckless (1984). The song was written by Adams and Jim Vallance, a long-time writing partner of Adams. Summer of 69 was produced by Adams and Bob Clearmountain. It was released in June 1985 under A&M Records as the fourth single from Reckless. As with most Adams songs, "Summer of '69" is an up-tempo rock song. According to Adams, who came up with the title, the number 69 is used in reference to sex, and not the year 1969; his co-writer Jim Vallance disagrees, however, claiming that it has nothing to do with the sex position.

I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth
The north side of my house faced east and the east

Now you dare to look me in the eye
Those crocodile tears are what you cry
It's a genuine problem you won't try
To work it out at all you just pass it by,

Substitute me for him
Substitute my coke for gin
Substitute you for my mum
At least I'll get my washing done

Substitute - The Who
Substitute is a song by The Who written by Pete Townshend. It was released as a single in March 1966, when it reached #5 in the UK, and was later included on the compilation album Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy in 1971. It became a UK top ten hit again when re-issued in 1976, reaching #7.

The concept for the song was supposedly originally inspired by Townshend’s idea that The Who were a 'substitute' for The Rolling Stones (Townshend had been particularly impressed by The Stones' hit "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and was determined to come up with a memorable riff in response), though it was later described as a comment about the blurring between image and reality.

I Can't Explain - The Who
I Can't Explain is a song by the English rock band The Who, written by Pete Townshend, and produced by Shel Talmy. The song was issued as a single in December 1964 in the United States and on 15 January 1965 in the United Kingdom.

I Can't Explain was the A-side of the group's first single released under the name The Who—their previous single, "I'm the Face"/"Zoot Suit," was released as The High Numbers. The song's intro resembles "Louie Louie". In the album's liner notes, Townshend also noted the song's similarity to the contemporaneous hit single "All Day and All of the Night" by The Kinks.

Mr. Tambourine Man - The Byrds
Mr. Tambourine Man is a song written and performed by Bob Dylan, which was released on his 1965 album Bringing It All Back Home. The Byrds also recorded a version of the song that was released as their first single on Columbia Records, reaching number 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the UK Singles Chart, as well as being the title track of their first album, Mr. Tambourine Man.

The Byrds recording of the song was influential in initiating the musical subgenre of folk rock, leading many contemporary bands to mimic its fusion of jangly guitars and intellectual lyrics in the wake of the single's success.

Good Lovin - The Young Rascals
Good Lovin' is a song written by Rudy Clark and Arthur Resnick that was a number one hit single for The Young Rascals in 1966.

The song was first recorded in early 1965 by Canton, Ohio, R&B singer Limmie Snell under the name "Lemme B. Good". About a month later the song was redone -- with considerably rewritten lyrics -- by R&B/novelty artists The Olympics, but this version was only moderately successful at best, reaching number 81 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart.

Money - Pink Floyd
Money is a track from English progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon. Written by Roger Waters, it opened side two of the original vinyl LP, and is the only song on the album to enter the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Money is noted for its unusual 7/4–4/4 time signature, and the tape loop of money-related sound effects that opens the song.

Roger Waters and David Gilmour stated that the song had been composed primarily in 7/8 time; it was composed in 7/4, according to Gilmour in an interview with Guitar World magazine in 1993.

Oh, Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison
Oh, Pretty Woman is a song, released in August 1964, which was a worldwide success for Roy Orbison. Recorded on the Monument Records label in Nashville, Tennessee, it was written by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees. The song spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. "Pretty Woman" was also Orbison's third single to top the British singles chart (for a total of three weeks). The previous Orbison singles to reach No.1 in the UK were "Only the Lonely" in 1960 and "It's Over" earlier in 1964. There were three guitar players on the session, Billy Sanford, Jerry Kennedy and Wayne Moss. Billy Sanford, who later played session for everybody from Elvis to Don Williams (and took to the road with Don in the 1990s) did the kick-off. Williams introduced him as a kid who had just arrived Nashville, with a borrowed guitar, who heard Orbison was minus a guitar player, who went over and got the gig.

Silent Night - Justin Sandercoe
The song was first performed on Christmas Eve 1818 at the St Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf bei Salzburg. The small town on the Salzach river, part of the former Archbishopric of Salzburg, had just passed from the Kingdom of Bavaria to the Austrian Empire in 1816. The young priest Father Joseph Mohr had come to Oberndorf the year before, he had already written the lyrics of the song "Stille Nacht" in 1816 at Mariapfarr, the hometown of his father in the Salzburg Lungau region, where he had worked as a coadjutor.

   C C/B Am Am/G
I knew a man Bojangles and he danced for you
   F ' G '
In worn out shoes
C C/B Am Am/G
Silver hair, ragged shirt and baggy pants
F ' G '
That old soft shoe
F ' C E Am Am/G
He jumped so high, he jumped so high.
D7 ' G ' G7 '
Then he lightly touched down

Chorus:

Am ' G ' Am ' G ' Am ' G '
Mr. Bojangles!! Mr. Bojangles!! Mr. Bojangles!!
C C/B Am Am/G
Dance.

I met him in a cell in New Orleans
I was down and out
He looked to me to be the eye of age
as he spoke right out
He talked of life, he talked of life,
laughs slapped his leg stale

He said the name Bojangles and he danced a lick
all across the cell
He grabbed his pants for a better stance,
oh he jumped so high and he clicked up his heels
He let go laugh, he let go laugh,
shook back his clothes all around

Chorus

He danced for those at minstrel shows and county fairs
throughout the south
He spoke with tears of 15 years
of how his dog and him just traveled about
His dog up and died, he up and died,
and after 20 years he still grieves

He said "I dance now at every chance at honky-tonks
for drinks and tips
But most of the time I spend behind these county bars,
cause I drinks a bit"
He shook his head, yes he shook his head,
I heard someone ask him, please?

Chorus (fade out)

I would do the same, you'd best believe
      F Am .
The highway signs say we're close, but
F C . .

Stubborn Love - The Lumineers
The roots revival of the last few years has primed listeners for a new generation of rustic, heart-on-the-sleeve music—the kind that nods to tradition while setting off into uncharted territory. The Lumineers walk that line with an unerring gift for timeless melodies and soul-stirring lyrics.

Verse:

E E [G E]
Four little words just to get me along
          E E [G E]
It's a difficulty and I'm biting on my tongue and I
         E E [G E]
I keep stalling, keeping me together
                     E [G A]
People around gotta find something to say now

                    A [G A]
Holding back, everyday the same
                  A [G A]
Don't wanna be a loner. Listen to me, oh no
          A [G A]
I never say anything at all
          A A
But with nothing to consider
     B B B B [G E]
They forget my name (ame, ame, ame)

Chorus:

E E

They call me "Stacey"
E E
They call me "Her"
E E [G A]

That's not my name
               A [G E]
That's not my name

They call me "Quiet Gal"
But I'm a riot
Mary, Jo, Lisa
Always the same
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name

Verse:

I miss the catch if they throw me the ball
I'm the last chick standing up against the wall
Keep up, falling, these heels they keep me boring
Getting glammed up and sitting on the fence now

So alone all the time at night
Lock myself away
Listen to me, oh no
Although I'm dressed up, out and all with
Everything considered
They forget my name (ame, ame, ame)

Chorus:

They call me "Hell"
They call me "Stacey"
They call me "Her"
They call me "Jane"
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name

They call me "Quiet Girl"
But I'm a riot
Mary, Jo, Lisa
Always the same
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name

E E E E A A A A [A B]
Are, you, cal - ling, me, dar-ling?

That's Not My Name - The Ting Tings
"That’s Not My Name" is the third single by British duo The Ting Tings from their debut studio album We Started Nothing. Vocalist Katie White states that the song was written "with me ranting about my frustrations with the record industry." The song was originally released as a double A-side with "Great DJ" by independent record label Switchflicker Records on 28 May 2007. After heavy promotion and support from BBC Radio 1 and the NME, the single was re-released individually on 12 May 2008 on Columbia Records.

The single was re-released in 1973 and charted again in the U.S. and Canada.

The Last Time - The Rolling Stones
The Last Time is a song by the English rock band The Rolling Stones. This was The Rolling Stones' first British single written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, although Keith Richards admitted in the 2003 book According to the Rolling Stones that '... we came up with The Last Time, which was basically re-adapting a traditional Gospel song that had been sung by the Staple Singers, but luckily the song itself goes back into the mists of time.'.

"The Last Time" was recorded at RCA Studios in Hollywood, California in January 1965. The Last Time was mixed in true stereo, but only bootleggers have a poor quality version, and the stereo version is noticeably shorter than the mono counterpart.

The Kids Are Alright - The Who
"The Kids Are Alright" is a song written by Pete Townshend of The Who. It appears as the seventh track on the group's first album My Generation (1965).

It was not released as a single until more than six months after it first appeared on the LP, first in the United States, and in the UK the following month. While not a huge hit at the time (reaching number 41 in the UK and number 85 in the US), the song, along with the album's title track, became anthems for the group and the Mod subculture of England in the 1960s. It later became the name of the documentary for the band in 1979.

The song uses a standard I-IV-V chord progression in the key of D while the chorus uses a ii-V-IV-I chord progression. The song was edited for the U.K. single and this version has become much more common than the original full-length U.K. album version. The edit of the song features a substantially shortened instrumental break.

A promotional film for the song was shot in Hyde Park in July or August of 1966. In addition to appearing on My Generation, the beginning of the song can be heard on Quadrophenia, after the song "Helpless Dancer" has faded out.

Blackbird (Fingerstyle) - The Beatles
Blackbird is a Beatles song from the double-disc album The Beatles (also known as The White Album). Blackbird was written by Paul McCartney, though credited to Lennon–McCartney.

McCartney explained on Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road, aired in 2005, that the guitar accompaniment for "Blackbird" was inspired by J.S. Bach's Bourrée in E minor, a well known lute piece, often played on the classical guitar.

Jack and Diane - John Mellencamp
According to Mellencamp, "Jack & Diane" was based on the 1962 Tennessee Williams film Sweet Bird of Youth. He said of recording the song: "'Jack & Diane' was a terrible record to make. When I play it on guitar by myself, it sounds great; but I could never get the band to play along with me. That's why the arrangement's so weird. Stopping and starting, it's not very musical." Mellencamp has also stated that the clapping wasn't supposed to be included in the finished song. It was recorded with the clapping in order to help keep tempo and then it was to be removed. However, he realized the song did not work without it.

Let It Out (Let It All Hang Out) - The Hombres
The Hombres were from the Memphis area (Bill Cunningham's brother was in the Box Tops), but it was Texas/Louisiana legend Huey P. Meaux who produced this weird cross between 'Gloria' and 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' which made it to #12 in November, 1967.

We Gotta Get Out of the Place - The Animals
"We Gotta Get out of This Place" was written and recorded as a demo by Mann and Weil, with Mann singing and playing piano. It was intended for The Righteous Brothers, for whom they had written the number one hit "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'". But then Mann gained a recording contract for himself, and his label Redbird Records wanted him to release it instead. Meanwhile, record executive Allen Klein had heard it and given the demo to Mickie Most, producer for The Animals. Most already had a call out to Brill Building songwriters for material for the group's next recording session (the Animals hits "It's My Life" and "Don't Bring Me Down" came from the same call), and The Animals recorded it before Mann could.

Eve of Destruction - Barry McGuire
"Eve of Destruction" is a protest song written by P. F. Sloan in 1965. Several artists have recorded it, but the best-known recording was by Barry McGuire. This recording was made between July 12 and July 15, 1965 and released by Dunhill Records. The accompanying musicians were top-tier LA session players: P. F. Sloan on guitar, Hal Blaine (of Phil Spector's "Wrecking Crew") on drums, and Larry Knechtel on bass. The vocal track was thrown on as a rough mix and was not intended to be the final version, but a copy of the recording "leaked" out to a DJ, who began playing it. The song was an instant hit and as a result the more polished vocal track that was at first envisioned was never recorded.

McGuire's single hit #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1965.

More Than a Feeling - Boston
"More Than a Feeling" is a song written by Tom Scholz and first released by the rock band Boston as the lead single from their self-titled debut album on Epic Records in September 1976, with "Smokin'" on the flipside. The single peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. The track is now a staple of classic rock and in 1999 it was named the 39th best hard rock song of all time by VH1.

His biggest hit, took Tom Scholz five years to complete. It is one of six songs Scholz worked on in his basement in 1974 and 1975 before Boston got its record contract, five of which eventually appeared on the Boston album.

Gloria - The Shadows of Knight
Gloria is the first album by the Shadows of Knight, released in 1966. The Shadows of Knight are primarily known for their hit version of the Van Morrison penned Them band's "Gloria". At the same time, the band today is regarded as one of the original punk bands.

The band's association with "Gloria" has caused some to miscategorized them as one-hit wonders. One reviewer points out that their first album, and its follow-up, Back Door Men, represent far greater diversity: "(The Gloria album) positively rocks with a raw energy of a band straight out of the teen clubs, playing with a total abandon and an energy level that seems to explode out of the speakers. Equal parts Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Who, and snotty little Chicago-suburb bad boys, the Shadows of Knight could easily put the torch to Chess blues classics, which make up the majority of the songs included here. Their wild takes on "I Just Want to Make Love to You," "Oh Yeah," and "I Got My Mojo Working" rank right up there with any British Invasion band's version from the same time period

Hollywood Nights - Bob Seger (4/4)
Intro: E A/E D/E E (2 times)

Verse 1:
-------

E
She stood there bright as the sun
        A/E
On that California coast
D/E E
He was a Midwestern boy on his own
E
She looked at him with those soft eyes
   A/E
So innocent and blue
D/E E
He knew right then he was too far from home

E A/E D/E E
He was too far from home

E A/E
She took his hand and she led him along that golden beach
D/E E
They watched the waves tumble over the sand
E
They drove for miles and miles
         A/E
Up those twisting turning roads
D/E E
Higher and higher and higher they climbed

Chorus:
------

E A/E
And those Hollywood nights. In those Hollywood hills
D E
She was looking so right. In her diamonds and frills
E A/E
Oh those big city nights. In those high rolling hills
D E
Above all the lights. She had all of her skills

Interlude:  D   A   E    E    ||     E   A/E   D/E   E

Verse 2:
-------

E A/E
He'd headed west cause he felt that a change would do him good
D/E E
See some old friends, good for the soul
E
She had been born with a face
           A/E
That would let her get her way
D/E E
He saw that face and he lost all control

E A/E D/E E
     He had lost all control

E A/E
Night after night, Day after day It went on and on
D/E E
Then came that morning he woke up alone
E A/E
He spent all night staring down at the lights on LA
D/E E
Wondering if he could ever go home

Chorus: (2 times)

E A/E
And those Hollywood nights. In those Hollywood hills
D E
She was looking so right. It was giving him chills
E A/E
In those big city nights. In those high rolling hills
D E
Above all the lights. With a passion that kills

E A/E
And those Hollywood nights. In those Hollywood hills
D E
She was looking so right. In her diamonds and frills
E A/E
Oh those big city nights. In those high rolling hills

Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
(Don't Fear) The Reaper is a song by the American rock band Blue Oyster Cult from their 1976 album. It was written and sung by the band's lead guitarist, Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser and was produced by David Lucas, Murray Krugman, and Sandy Pearlman. The song is about the inevitability of death and the foolishness of fearing it, and was written when Dharma was thinking about what would happen if he died at a young age. Lyrics such as "Romeo and Juliet are together in eternity" have led many listeners to interpret the song to be about a murder-suicide pact, but Dharma says the song is about eternal love, not suicide. He used Romeo and Juliet as motifs to describe a couple believing they would meet again in the afterlife. He guessed that "40,000 men and women" died each day, and the figure was used several times in the lyrics.

Supermarket Flowers - Ed Sheeran
"Supermarket Flowers" is a song by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. It was included on his third studio album (2017).

The song is the 12th and final track on the standard version of Sheeran's third studio album. In an interview with MTV, Sheeran revealed that the song is about his late grandmother. He said "She was in a hospital near my house where I was making the album so I saw her quite a lot while making the album and she passed away while I was in the studio. So that's my first reaction for anything that happens to me, good or bad, pick up a guitar." He also said that the song is supposed to "really make you cry". Sheeran had not intended to put the song in the album 'Divide' as it was simply a personal tribute to his grandmother that was written from the viewpoint of his mother. His father first suggested that he should play the song at her funeral, which he did, and his grandfather then urged that it should be included in the album after hearing it at the funeral. Sheeran said: "My grandfather just turned to me [at the funeral], he was like you have to put that out, that has to go on the record. It's such a good memory, that's why it’s ended up on there."

A (played 1 time)

A A
L.A. is fine, sunshine most of the time
        D D
And the feeling is laid back
E
Palm trees grow and the rents are low
E
But you know I keep thinking about
A A
Making my way back

          A A
Well, I'm New York City born and raised
                                   D D
But nowadays, I'm lost between two shores
E
L.A. is fine, but it ain't home
E A A
New York's home but it ain't mine no more

Chorus:

         A A D D
I am, I said, to no one there

And no one heard at all, not even the chair
         A A D D
I am, I cried, I am, said I
    D [f# e d] A
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
[c# b a ] E (hold) Intro. (2 times)
Leavin' me lonely still

Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of being a king
And then became one
Well, except for the names and a few other changes
If you talk about me, the story's the same one

But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried but it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I've never cared for the sound of being alone

Chorus:
------
         A A D D
I am, I said, to no one there
    D [f# e d] A (hold)
And no one heard at all, not even the chair

I am, I cried, I am, said I
    D [f# e d] A
And I am lost, and I can't even say why

Turn the Page - Bob Seger
"Turn the Page" is a song originally released by Bob Seger in 1973 on his Back in '72 album. Released as a single but never charting, Seger's live version of the song on the 1976 Live Bullet album became a mainstay of album-oriented rock radio stations, and still gets significant airplay to this day on classic rock stations.

Say Something - A Great Big World
"Say Something" is a song by American indie pop duo A Great Big World from their debut album, Is There Anybody Out There? (2013). Written by the duo members—Ian Axel and Chad King—alongside Mike Campbell, the song was originally recorded by Axel for his solo album This Is the New Year (2011). It was later released as a single by the duo on September 3, 2013, by Epic Records. Following its usage on American reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance, the track gained attention from singer Christina Aguilera, who wanted to collaborate with A Great Big World on the song. Quickly afterwards, a re-recorded version of "Say Something" with Aguilera was released on November 4, 2013

Higher and Higher - Rita Coolidge
(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher is a R&B song originally performed by Jackie Wilson in 1967 and covered by Rita Coolidge in 1977.

Rita Coolidge remade the song as "(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher" for her 1977 album Anytime...Anywhere. Coolidge's version "...Higher and Higher" is more mid-tempo than the driving original and largely omits the chorus which is evidenced only in the background vocals sung under the repetition of the first verse with which Coolidge closes the song.

Tired of Waiting for You - The Kinks
"Tired of Waiting for You" was a hit 1965 rock song by the English band The Kinks. The song was released as a single on 15 January 1965 in the UK and on 17 February 1965 in the USA. It then appeared on their second studio album Kinda Kinks.

According to Ray Davies, the music for "Tired of Waiting for You" was written on the train to the recording studio and the words were written at a coffee shop during a break in the session.

Angel from Montgomery - John Prine
John Prine wrote "Angel from Montgomery" after a friend suggested writing "another song about old people", referring to Prine's song "Hello In There". Although Prine had "said everything I wanted to [about seniors] in 'Hello In There'" he was intrigued by the idea of "a song about a middle-aged woman who feels older than she is...[Eventually] he had this really vivid picture of this woman standing over the dishwater with soap in her hands....She wanted to get out of her house and her marriage and everything. She just wanted an angel to come to take her away from all this".

Back in Black - AC/DC
Back in Black is an album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It is the seventh Australian and sixth internationally released studio album by the band.

Released on 25 July 1980, Back in Black was the first AC/DC album recorded without former lead singer Bon Scott, who died on 19 February 1980 at the age of 33, and was dedicated to him. The band considered disbanding following Scott's death, but they ultimately decided to continue, with encouragement from Scott's parents, and shortly thereafter hired Brian Johnson as their new lead singer and lyricist.

Smokestack Lightning - Howlin' Wolf
In Chicago in January 1956, Howlin' Wolf recorded "Smokestack Lightning". The song takes the form of "a propulsive, one-chord vamp, nominally in E major but with the flatted blue notes that make it sound like E minor", and lyrically it is "a pastiche of ancient blues lines and train references, timeless and evocative". Longtime Wolf guitarist Hubert Sumlin is credited with the distinctive guitar line. Howlin' Wolf sang and played harmonica, backed by pianist Hosea Lee Kennard, guitarists Willie Johnson[6] and Hubert Sumlin, bassist Willie Dixon, and drummer Earl Phillips.

"Unchained Melody" is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the little-known prison film Unchained (January 1955), hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages.

You Ain't Goin' Nowhere - Bob Dylan
"You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" is a song written by Bob Dylan in 1967 in Woodstock, New York, during the self-imposed exile from public appearances that followed his July 29, 1966 motorcycle accident. A recording of Dylan performing the song in September 1971 was released on the Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. II album in November of that year, marking the first official release of the song by its author. Earlier 1967 recordings of the song, performed by Dylan and the Band, were issued on the 1975 album The Basement Tapes and the 2014 album The Bootleg Series Vol. 11: The Basement Tapes Complete.

Copperhead Road - Steve Earle
Copperhead Road is the third studio album by Steve Earle, released in 1988. The album is often referred to as Earle's first "rock record"; Earle himself calls it the world's first blend of heavy metal and bluegrass, and the January 26, 1989 review of the album by Rolling Stone suggested that the style be called "power twang".

Verse 1:
-------

          G '
From this valley they say you are goin'
       G D7
I will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile
         G C
For they say you are takin' the sunshine
       [ G D7 ] G
That has brightened our pathway the while

Chorus:
------

         G '
Come and sit by my side if you love me
       G D7
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
      G C
But remember the Red River Valley
       [ G D7 ] G
And the cowboy that has loved you so true

Verse 2:
-------

Do you think of the valley you're leavin'
Oh how lonely and dreary it will be
Do you think of the fond heart you're breakin'
And the sadness you've cast over me

Chorus:
------

Come and sit by my side if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
But remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy that has loved you so true

Verse 3:
-------

For a long time my dear, I've been waiting
For the words that you never would say
And alas my poor heart you are breakin'
For they tell me you're goin' away

Chorus:
------

Come and sit by my side if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
But remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy that has loved you so true

Verse 4:
-------

As you go to your home by the ocean
May you never forget those sweet hours
That we spent in the Red River Valley
And the love we exchanged mid the flowers

Chorus:
------

Come and sit by my side if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
But remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy that has loved you so true
